Mars

Mars takes 687 days to orbit the Sun and it is more elliptical than Earth's orbit.  Because of this, Mars makes a close approach to Earth about every 2 years.  In July of 2018, Mars had it's closed approach in 15 years of 35.8 million miles. The October 2020 approach was 38.6 million miles.  December 2022 brings Mars within 50.7 million miles.  The next close approach will be 59.7 million miles in January of 2025.

My first image of Mars for 2018. There was a dust storm in progress so much of the suface detail is washed out.

Sky conditions still not great. Still only able to stack 10% of images.  Used a Explore Scientific 2x Image Expander.
