NGC 6356 - Globular Cluster - Class II

NGC 6356 is a Class II Globular Cluster.   It has a diameter of about 115 light years, which makes it among the larger clusters of the Milky Way. It was discovered by British Astronomer William Herschel in 1784.  NGC 6356 is located in the constellation Ophiuchus at 17h 23m 35.0s RA, -17o 48m 47s DEC.  It is 49,600 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 8.2. The best time to observe NGC 6356 is in the Summer.
