NGC 6229 - Globular Cluster - Class IV

NGC 6229 is a Class IV Globular Cluster.   It has two distinct generations of stars and may be the remnant core of a spheroidal dwarf galaxy.  It was discovered by British Astronomer William Herschel in 1787.  NGC 6229 is located in the constellation Hercules at 16h 46m 58.8s RA, +47o 31m 40s DEC.  It is 100,000 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 9.4. The best time to observe NGC 6229 is in the Summer.
