NGC 2392 - The Eskimo Nebula

NGC 2392, the Eskimo Nebula is a Planetary Nebula.  It is also refered to as the Clown-faced Nebula or the Lion Nebula.  It has an outer layer that is thought to be about 10,000 year old and an inner layer formed by strong stellar wind particles from the central star.  It was discovered by British Astronomer William Herschel in 1787.  NGC 2392 is located in the constellation Gemini at 07h 29m 10.7s RA, +20o 54m 42.5s DEC.  It is 6,520 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 10.1. The best time to observe NGC 2392 is in the Winter.
