NGC 2244 and The Rosetta Nebula

NGC 2244 is an Open Cluster in the Rosetta Nebula.   It is a young cluster with an age of less than 5 million years.  The Rosetta Nebula is composed of large areas of dust and gas and has hundreds of young starts in the center of the image. It was discovered by English Astronomer John Flamsteed in 1690.  NGC 2244 is located in the constellation Monoceros at 06h 31m 54s RA, +04o 56m 0s DEC.  It is 5,200 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 4.8. The best time to observe NGC 2244 is in the Winter.
