M92 - Globular Cluster - Class IV

M92 is a Class IV Globular Cluster also known as NGC 6341.  It is one of the brightest globular clusters in the Milky Way and is visible without a telescope under good observing conditions.  It was discovered by German Astronomer Elert Bode in 1777.  It is 109 light-years in diameter and contains about 330,000 stars.   M92 is located in the constellation Hercules at 17h 17m 07.4s RA, +43o 08m 09.4s DEC.  It is 26,700 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 6.4. The best time to observe M92 is in the Mid-Summer.
