M78 - Reflection Nebula

M78 is a Reflection Nebula in the constellation Orion.  It is also known as NGC 2068.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Pierre Mechain in 1780.  M78 is located in the constellation Orion at 05h 46m 46.7s RA, +00o 00m 50s DEC. It is 1,350 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 8.3. The best time to observe M78 is in the Winter.
