M75 - Globular Cluster - Class I

M75 is a Class I Globular Cluster also known as NGC 6864.  It is the most centrally concentrated globular cluster in the Messier Catalog.  The majority of it's stars are located in the nucleus of the cluster. It was discovered by French Astronomer Pierre Mechain in 1780.  It is 134 light-years in diameter and contains about 400,000 stars.   M75 is located in the constellation Sagittarius at 20h 06m 04.9s RA, -21o 55m 17.9s DEC.  It is 68,000 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 8.5. The best time to observe M75 is the Fall.
