M71 - Globular Cluster - Class X-XI

M69 is a Class X-XI Globular Cluster also known as NGC 6838.  It is one of the smallest globular clusters known with a diameter of only 27 light years.  It was discovered by Swiss Astronomer Philippe Loys de Cheseaux in 1745.  It is 27 light-years in diameter and contains about 20,000 stars.   M70 is located in the constellation Sagitta at 19h 53m 46.5s RA, +18o 46m 45.1s DEC.  It is 13,000 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 8.2. The best time to observe M69 is the Fall.
