M69 - Globular Cluster - Class V

M69 is a Class V Globular Cluster also known as NGC 6637.  It is only 6,200 light years from the galactic center.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1780.  It is 84 light-years in diameter and contains about 125,000 stars.   M69 is located in the constellation Sagittarius at 18h 31m 23.1s RA, -32o 20m 53.1s DEC.  It is 29,000 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 7.6. The best time to observe M69 is late Summer.
