M68 - Globular Cluster - Class X

M68 is a Class X Globular Cluster and it is located in the largest constellation in the sky, Hydra.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1780.  It is 106 light-years in diameter and contains about 2,000 stars.   M68 is located in the constellation Hydra at 12h 39m 28s RA, -26o 44m 38.6s DEC.  It is 33,600 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 7.8. The best time to observe M68 is late Spring.
