M33 - The Triangulum Galaxy

M33 the Triangulum Galaxy is a Spiral Galaxy and the third largest member of the Local Group.  It was first cataloged by French  Astronomer Charles Messier in 1764, but may have been by others earlier.  M33 is 6100 light-years in diameter and contains around 40 billion stars. It is located in the constellation Triangulum at 01h 33m 50.0s RA, +30o 39m 36.7s DEC.  It is 2.73 million Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 5.7. The best time to observe M33 is in the Winter.
