M26 - Open Cluster

M26 is bright Open Star Cluster.  It contains about 90 stars and can be difficult to find.  Small scope make the compact cluster visible.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1765.   M26 is located in the constellation Scutum at 18h 45m 18.0s RA, -09o 23m 00s DEC.  It is 5,160 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 8.0. The best time to observe M26 is late Summer.
