M24 - The Sagittarius Star Cloud

M24 is also known as The Sagittarius Star Cloud.  It part of the Sagittarius-Carina arms of the Milky Way.  It was discovered by English Astronomer John Herschel between 1825 and 1833.   M24 is located in the constellation Sagittarius at 18h 17m RA,  -18o 29m DEC.  It is about 10,000 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 2.5. The best time to observe M24 is late Summer.
