M23 - Open Cluster

M23 is an Open Star Cluster.  It is one of the older open clusters in our galaxy. n the group. It contains about 100 stars.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1764.   M23 is located in the constellation Sagittarius at 17h 57m 04s RA, -18o 59m 06s DEC.  It is 2,050 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 5.5. The best time to observe M23 is late Summer.
