M21 - Webb's Cross - Open Cluster

M21 is an Open Star Cluster that is also near M20.   It is a young cluster with mostly small, faint stars, but it does have a few blue giant stars in the group. It contains about 57 stars.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1764.   M21 is located in the constellation Sagittarius at 18h 04m 13s RA, -22o 30m 00s DEC. It is 3,900 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 6.5. The best time to observe M21 is late Summer.
