M18 - The Open Cluster in Sagittarius

M18 - Is an Open Star Cluster that is also near M16 and M17.   It was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1764.  It about 52 light-years in diameter.   M18 is located in the constellation Sagittarius at 18h 19m 58s RA, -17o 06m 06s DEC. It is 4,200 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 6.9. The best time to observe M18 is late Summer.
