M10 - Globular Cluster - Class VII

M10 - Is a Class VII Globular Cluster that was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1764.  It is one of the brightest globular clusters in this portion of the sky.  It is 83 light-years in diameter and contains about 10,000 stars with the core region consisting of 14% binary stars.   M10 is located in the constellation Ophiuchus at 16h 57m 8.9s RA, -04o 05m 58.1s DEC and is 20' arc minutes. It is 14,300 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 6.6. The best time to observe M10 is mid Summer.
