M9 - Globular Cluster - Class VIII

M9 - Is a Class VIII Globular Cluster that was discovered by French Astronomer Charles Messier in 1764.  It is one closest globular clusters to the center of our Milky Way galaxy.  It is 90 light-years in diameter and contains over 100,000 stars.   M9 is located in the constellation Ophiuchus at 17h 19m 11.8s RA, -18o 30m 58.5s DEC and is 12' arc minutes. It is 25,800 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 7.7. The best time to observe M9 is mid Summer.
