M6 - The Butterfly Cluster - Open Cluster

M6 - Is an Open Cluster that discovered by Italian Astronomer Giovanni Battista Hodiema in 1654.  It gets is name from the vague resemblance to its shape to a butterfly.  It is 6 light-years in diameter and contains  120 stars.   M6 is located in the constellation Scorpius at 17h 40m 6.0s RA, -32o 13m 0.0s DEC and is 33' arc minutes. It is 1,590 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 4.2.
