M5 - Globular Cluster - Class V

M5 - Is a Class XI Globular Cluster that discovered by German Astronomer Gottfried Kirch in 1702.  It is one of the oldest globular cluster in the Milky Way.  It is 160 light-years in diameter and contains over 100,000 stars of the majority are over 12 billion years old.   M5 is located in the constellation Serpens at 15h 18m 33.2s RA, +02o 04m 51.7s DEC and is 23' arc minutes. It is 24,500 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 5.7.
