M4 - Globular Cluster - Class XI

M4 - Is a large Class XI Globular Cluster that discovered by Swiss Astronomer Jean-Philippe Loys de Cheseaux in 1746.  It is the closest globular cluster to Earth.  It is 70 light-years in diameter and contains over 100,000 stars of which 40,000 are expected to be white dwarfs that are up to 13 billion years old.   M4 is located in the constellation Scorpius at 16h 23m 35.2s RA, -26o 31m 32.7s DEC and is 36' arc minutes. It is 5,500 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 5.4.
