IC 1276 - Palomar 7 - Globular Cluster - Class XII

IC 1276 or Palomar 7 is a Class XII Globular Cluster.   The Palomar Clusters are some of the faintest globular clusters in the Milky Way.  The majority of them were discoved in the 1950's by reviewing survey plates from the Palomar Observatory. Only two, Palomar 7 and 9 were observed earlier.  There are 15 total Palomar Clusters.  Palomar 7 was discovered by American Astronomer Lewis Swift in 1889.  It is located in the constellation Serpens at 18h 10m 44.2 RA, -07o 12m 27.4s DEC.  It is 17,600 Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 10.3. The best time to observe Palomar 7 is in the late Summer.
